Garage Door Opener for a Dual Sport by Jlutty650L
I took our spare garage door opener, cracked open the case, and found the spot on the circuit board that connected to the button. I soldered a wire to the board, after clipping off the button from the other side. Then I notched the edge of the opener case, making room for the wires to exit the case. I wrapped the opener (with its 9v battery inside) once with clear mailing tape and attached the whole thing behind the headlight shroud with hook-and-loop fastener material. Then I put a small, 2-amp doorbell type (push-button) switch on a bracket that I made and fastened it to the handlebar clamp bolt, as shown below. I feel as cool as a 36-year-old Batman smoothing on down my street, bike covered in mud, and the garage door goes up... like magic! And it costs about $5 for the heat-shrink tubing, a button, and some wire.
