me(125 baja) and my son(90 baja) were out riding the weekend after we had some snow. the snow had melted and the trails were so muddy, ten minutes after we get there my son gets about 20 feet of metal wire wraped up in the rear sprocket took us like a half hour gettin it out, so then about a half hour later we hit this trail, was muddy as hell, i come out of the trail im waiting about 10 minutes and no son, trail is about 100 yards long so i go back in a guy on quad tells me he is stuck, i get there chain is popped, get it back on he takes a spill a couple feet later breaks the rear fender off, few more feet takes another spill bent the brake, few more feet 1 more spill broke the shifter off, it was the worst day riding for him..

Lots of cardboard in the garage to keep those seats in mint condition! :P Do you do bike restorations for a living or what? Sanosuke!

Reply by superhondaz50 on 03/01/2006 4:52:23 PM
No, the cardboard is on the seats to keep 3 cats that live in there from ruining the seats. Some of the seats I make cost close to $100 dollars, and need to be protected. The cats are not mine, I hate cats but I have to deal with them until they die. If it were up to me I would shoot all 3 with my .22 But ya, I restore bikes, build customs, stuff along that line. I like building bikes that will get a "wow thats awesome" "whats that" or "I used to have one of those when I was younger"

Reply by jayrock99 on 03/02/2006 2:58:36 PM
the shed is 8'x10' it ran me around $350

Reply by superhondaz50 on 03/02/2006 3:01:05 PM

Reply by jayrock99 on 03/02/2006 3:10:54 PM
how long you been working on bikes

Reply by superhondaz50 on 03/02/2006 3:41:00 PM
Since I was 12, so roughly 9 years now. My favorite to work on are Honda horizontals, like whats in a panterra, I like doing big bores. I have a 1980 Honda CT70 I built with a 110cc 4 speed manual in it, very very fast! (check out Honda CT in the gallery, its the orange one)Every now and then I do big bikes like the Black Suzuki street tracker.

u ever think of opening a shop, i been thinking of trying to open an auto repair shop, i been working at a dealership for 8 years.

Reply by superhondaz50 on 03/02/2006 5:22:13 PM
I run a very very small business out of my garage. I don't make much as I only do a bike every 2 or 3 months. I'm usually kinda selective about who I build bikes for. I'm in college right now, and afterwards I plan on opening a shop. Either one that builds choppers (the money market) and pitbikes, or a gunshop (my other passion, and an excuse to leave commifornia)

Reply by Samuel on 03/03/2006 06:20:38 AM
I'm in the same boat, I've been working on bikes since I was 12 (brother gave me my first Harley basket case at 15) built choppers for a few years, worked at a few bike shops, now I'm workin' at Baja to pay my way through MMI. seems everyone wants some sorta paper that says I know what I've been doin for the last 16 years.

Ya I know what your talkin about. I applied for a Job over at Malcom Smith Motorsports as a mechanic (for the pure fact their mechanics were idiots) I told them my experience and that I had worked with a team green mechanic. Next question was if I was certified.... I said no, and they wouldn't hire me. oh well.

Reply by 4strokeguy on 03/16/2006 5:27:55 PM
if i buy an exhaust and an air filter for a crf150 will it fit?

Reply by superhondaz50 on 03/16/2006 6:51:08 PM
An exhaust for a crf150 should work, but I dont know anyone who's tried it yet. Buy it, try it, and if it doesnt work, return itYou will probably have to make a bracket mount for it. Buy a UNI pod filter. Just measure the opening on your carb with a caliper,go to your dealer and tell them what size pod filter you need.

Reply by jhonathan on 03/19/2006 07:24:22 AM
i just bought a one for a ttr125 will be here wensday i will try to see if it so you guys will knwo what to buy will post some pics also for the air filter yeah just get a uni messure the carb opeainng it comes with a hose to attach

Reply by superhondaz50 on 03/19/2006 10:25:23 AM
You will have a very interesting time with your ttr pipe! On your bike the pipe runs along the right side of the bike. A ttr pipe starts on the right (header), crosses through the bike, and ends on the left side (silencer). If the header fits in the head, just makes some brackets, and it should work. Let us know how it comes out!

superhondaz on your 50 did you change foot pegs and rear brake lever? i have a 50 and a 90 and the set up of the footpegs and rear brake lever sucks, kills the ground clearance and brake lever is giant.

Reply by superhondaz50 on 05/17/2006 3:17:42 PM
ya i did. the peg assembly is off a crf50, you need to trim a little off the existing mount to put in the new screws, youll see if you get a set. the lever is off a crf70 and is a custom job. i shortened the link arm on it and welded up a custom bracket to hold it on, also made a custom return spring mount for it. it is a much better setup than stock.

Think you can post a close up pic of the peg and brake set up on the 50 do you think it will work on the 90 (green)??? i just started welding, wanted to see a pic before i attempted it.

I got a crash story. i let my girlfriend drive my MOPED!! while i was on back and she couldn't turn and we dumped it in a 15 foot deep ravine. ya, embarrassing. its a moped. but somehow it survived and is still running, just some cosmetic damage.
