Brian 10 mentioned a squirter adjustment on the carb of his 525 is help extend his mileage. Any idea if this works on a 450 EXC 2004? Are there potential problems with making the adjustment?

By "squirter" could you be referring to the accelerator pump. There are lots of things you can do to boost the performance of the pump, but I don't know about any that enhance fuel economy. I don't know what the adjustment is you are refering to, but I imagine that if it works on a 525 it will work on your 450.

There is a way to adjust when the accelerator pump kicks in. You adjust it simliar to how you would adjust your idle stop. There is a screw pushing against the plate that holds the accelerator in the off position. When you wick the throttle, the rod will push open the acclerator jet at a certain distance through the throttle travel. Some people who don't wish to have the accelerator pump circuit working just push the rod up past the stop to jam it from opening. Everything else still works fine, but you don't have an accelerator pump carb anymore. Hope that's what you were looking for!

Go for it. It looks like something that can be performed rather easily, and reversed if you don't like what it does.
