That's real nice Ken that you are all about xr's but all I have is this old xl that is really fun to ride and good on gas.But really if you can't help me find my valve adjustment specs Please dont reply to my post.

I'm sure you missunderstood my reply. I was refering to "Al Baker's XR's Only". Its a shop that works on old and new Xr's and XL's. They have all the old manuals and specs and are happy to help. But there's just one thing... you will have to call them and ask for the information. Unfortunately this site doesnt have an online library of manuals and no one else has piped up with the info you have asked for.

I'm gonna guess that the exhaust is .003 and the intake is .002 this is my guess only

I owned a ascot quite awhile ago and I know the intake was .002 but the ex. was .003/.004?

all that aftermarket stuff that you see at the end of our posts is our mods to our personal rides.
Last year I had sold my 84 xr500r and gave the manual to the new owner. Let us know when you get the specs.

My Clymer manual shows
  • 0.05 mm (0.002in) Intake
  • 0.10 mm (0.004in) Exhaust

Three weeks is a long time. This search took all of 30 seconds on Google and it took longer to type this out. Don't know how accurate it is since I sold my last '82 in '86 and my Honda FSM went with it. I would've also called any Honda dealer since valve clearances aren't classified information...
