Looking for a Quick Carb Mod

Hello. I'm the proud owner of a '17 XR650L. I used to ride a lot back in the 80s, but the last 30 years or so has been pretty much street bikes for me. I'm slowly learning about carburetors again, and I also was reminded about the existence of fuel petcocks when I couldn't figure out why my XR wouldn't start the first night I brought it home. I may not be smarter than I look.

Quick question. I'm going to remove the smog stuff and put an INS (I think) foam air filter on it. I know it's already too lean from the factory, and mine hasn't been touched. Is there a way I can put in different jets to make it run correctly for now without doing the entire Dave's mods thing? I'd like to have a short-term solution to let it run better before I tackle the carb issue fully later this summer. If I can't then I'll hold off on any changes until I have time to tackle it fully.

Yes, I have searched. This particular question did not appear after a lot of reading.

Thanks for any help.

55/158 jets , pilot and main. The only thing left of Dave's mod after that is drilling the hole in the slide bigger and shimming the needle. Also pull out the air restrictor from the air inlet of the airbox. DO NOT remove the oil separator by the petcock , it was erroneously called a charcoal cannister in the Dave's mod write up , only the California models had the charcoal cannister.

Just so I'm clear, I can switch to a 55 pilot and 158 main without messing with anything else, and that should help at least for the time being.
