1985 Honda 350R decompression

Postby 2Pilgrims1 » Mon Jul 30, 2018 2:40 pm

Getting ready to install rocker arm gasket and cover. One question. The book states to preload decompression devise prior to the rocker arm cover. That is all it states? So does anyone know the procedure? If so thank you.

Hmmm, on the 200R you can look in the valve cover to determine the correct position before bolting it down. I just looked at a diagram of the 85 350, and the device looks similar. You should be able to determine the position based on where the piston is in its stroke. On the decompression cycle, the cable pulls when you rotate the kick start and it pulls the lever (the shaft rotates clockwise), on my bike that pulls the lever toward the back of the bike. Hope that helps, sorry if it doesn't.

....sorry, you do need to pre-load the spring so it pulls the lever back in place. Perhaps that is what they were referring to?
