Thanks for the response Joe. I'll do as you suggest and see if that flushes out the valve.

Hey I just want to thank Dave and everyone who chimed in on this Mod. I finally got the time to do it and I am overwhelmed with the difference. I ordered a 158 and 55 as my altitude is about 2200 here in Boulder City, NV. I ordered the OEM jets instead of the more expensive Keihin jets so for about $20.00 I have a much faster bike. My 08 650 runs like a scalded cat.
The Mod only took about an hour so once again guys thank you very much.

The OEM jets ARE Keihin.

I am having issues after doing the dave's carb mod. Everything seems well and good until I reach speeds above 65 mph. The motor begins to stumble and acts like it is starving for gas.
I live at 1100 ft. and should not be having jetting issues. I had the bike set up with a dyno jet kit from the Honda dealer at the time I bought the bike back in 2013. Ran great but we have #$%^ gas here and I left the carb over winter with out winterizing it and had to rebuild the carb with a moose kit seeing that it had all the parts.
Any help would be great because I need my two wheel fix here.

You can drill the slide and use the DJ kit , you can use the DJ spring with Dave's mod , BUT you CAN NOT mix Mikuni jets and needles with DJ jets and needles. They both use different numbering systems and the needles only work well with the appropriate jets.
