Re: Slip-on exhaust question

Thanks Joe, I hadn't thought of that, but it sounds like it might work. I am attaching pics so you can see what I'm talking about - you can see in that last pic that the screw holes aren't lining up with the frame of the bike. In the first couple pics you can see the seal/gasket thing that is in the...

Slip-on exhaust question

I just bought a Big Gun exhaust for my 2008 XR650L. When I went to remove the OEM exhaust, there appeared to be a ring or gasket (I am not a mechanic, probably calling it the wrong name...) that stayed on the midpipe section when I pulled the OEM exhaust off. The problem - the Big Gun exhaust does n...

Re: Dave's Carb Mods

Thanks for the response Joe. I'll do as you suggest and see if that flushes out the valve.

Re: Dave's Carb Mods

Hey fellas, I'm back. After a couple months, I completed the carb mods with new jets, adjusted for local altitude (5,280ft.). I finished the mods, took the bike out 2 weekends ago and rode around the neighborhood, for just a couple miles, and everything seemed to be working fine. The bike started mu...

Re: Dave's Carb Mods

Thanks Joe - but once you unscrew and remove the float bowl, it isn't in the way any more, and you can adjust the screw (to 2 1/4 turns out). And then just put the float bowl back on. Am I missing something? I guess I still don't understand why it's necessary to file down the tab.

Re: Dave's Carb Mods

Your spark plug looks good Reanimator. I'm in the middle of the carb mods, by carb is currently disassembled with new jets ready to be installed. My question - and understand that I have no idea what I'm doing other than what I read about the carb mods on this forum - is, what happens if I don't fil...

Re: XR650L - Brakes Help!

Great! Thanks for the advice. I'll try it again - I was only pumping maybe 10-15x.

XR650L - Brakes Help!

Hi folks, I'm having an issue with my front disc brakes (XR650L). I got some new tires recently, put them on myself, and when I went to put the front tire back on and slid the disc brake back into the pads (which I really did not touch when I removed the wheel), I noticed that the front brakes had l...
