Re: XR650L Crankcase Breather Filter

As the piston goes up and down 650cc's of air goes in and out of the breather , when it blows out it carries oil vapor. The oil separator condenses the vapor and allows it to be drawn back into the motor. It's best to leave the breather set up as it came from Honda.

Re: Dave's Carb Mods

In your case I would just drill the slide's vacuum holes. Steer clear of ''XRs Eventually'' , they're not known for their customer service. Niche Cycle has the best prices on the Mikuni TM40 pumper carbs and the cables , adapters from Amazon. The ''kits'' are higher priced than the individual parts ...

Re: Dave's Carb Mods

Re: Wiring in LED License Plate Frame Question [XR650L]

You will use 2 of the 3 wires to the tail light. 1 is ground , 1 is constant power to the tail light and the other is only energized when a brake is applied. You'll be using ground and the constant tail light wires. Get yourself a meter to figure out which is which.

Re: Looking for a Quick Carb Mod

55/158 jets , pilot and main. The only thing left of Dave's mod after that is drilling the hole in the slide bigger and shimming the needle. Also pull out the air restrictor from the air inlet of the airbox. DO NOT remove the oil separator by the petcock , it was erroneously called a charcoal cannis...

Re: Dave's Carb Mods

The slide isn't supposed to close completely and you sure as hell don't want to stretch the spring.

Re: XR650L 2007 Spark plug wire

If you look into the sparkplug cap , where the sparkplug wire goes into , it looks like the pointed end of a wood screw. Cut about 3/8 of an inch off of the end of the sparkplug wire , push it into the cap and twist the cap while pushing on it to screw the cap back onto the wire. If there's part of ...
