Here are the wire color codes for installing a newer XR CDI ignition box onto older XRs because finding performance cdi boxes for older machines is almost impossible and newer CDI's have the latest timing advance curves anyway. An easy way to hook them up without any wire cutting or splicing new plugs is to use a fine pick or jewelers screwdriver to carefully push the wires with female pin connectors attached out of the back side of the connector/plug. Then using the proper wire color chart above, slide the wires onto the correct mating cdi connector.
