Hi, actually I have a 2002 KTM 520 EXC and I understand that this model is for Cross Country, So I use it for my long BAJA desert trips 200 and 300+ Miles, I am considering to sell it and get a Newer model, so, some one is offering me a 2005 KTM 525 MXC, it has a bigger 13 lts fuel tank, but I am not sure if the MXC performs as good as my EXC for my long trips....does anyone knows the difference between those models ?? how about their transmission, are the same ones ?? thank you

The EXC has a wide ratio transmission - The MXC has a close ratio transmission
The EXC has lighting coils and lights - The MXC has lighting coils and no lights
The EXC lighting coils are supposed to produce higher output
The MXC has a larger gas tank

To elaborate a little on what Admin said about the MXC trans, the first 4 gears are out of the SX motocross model (close ratio) while 5th and 6th gear are out of the EXC, so it still can get up to a good clip for baja.
