The best looking mod that I have done to
my 1996 XR400R was mount a Cycra CRF450R half-vented number plate in place
of the stock headlight/number-plate.
- I cut out a cardboard template mount (shown in top photo) to trace
the final design on a piece of metal.
- On the bottom mount, I just cut a piece flat metal and trimmed it
to bolt where the plastic locator pins went through from the old headlight/number-plate
to the lower triple-clamp. Then I bolted the lower number-plate mount
to the flat metal piece.
It is on there good and the final product
turned out really nice. You can get a Cycra number-plate anywhere from
$50 to $60 (USD). I had the metal and miscellaneous bolts already. This
mod took about 2 hours from start to finish.
